It's finally here! Ahelno has been released on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.
This is my first book, and I've learned so much about publishing in such a short period of time. First, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is an amazing tool. Yes, it can be persnickety about your formatting and cover design, but it's not that bad. And the reporting tool is unmatched. Look at the stats from my first two hours of sales. I'm rich! LOL.
Two orders are from people who actually bought the ebook for $3.99. The KENP Read means pages read by Kindle Unlimited subscribers.
The tool doesn't show how many KU subscribers have downloaded the book--just the number of pages read. We also don't see who ordered or downloaded the book, in case you're concerned about privacy.
Authors are paid anywhere from $0.003 to $0.005 per page read, so a book like mine at 414 Kindle pages could generate an expected royalty of $1.24 to $2.07 per book. It varies based on how many subscribers KU has each month and the number of books they read.
In case you're wondering, the page count starts at page one and does not include the front matter (title page, table of contents), but it does contain the back matter. If you like a book, flip through to the end and rate it! Authors need your ratings and reviews.
In addition to KU, Ahelno is available as an ebook for $3.99 and as a paperback for $15.99.
For those of you who do not wish to support Amazon, I have good news! I'm working on an edition of Ahelno to be distributed in actual bookstores. I've commissioned new cover art for a more discreet cover that you can read out in the wild. That edition should be available in mid-August.
